To keep you car looking good and maintain its value, it is important to spend time in caring for its surface. The following are some things to know when protecting your car’s paint.
Dirt, debris, and pollutants in the air can all destroy car paint by slowly eating away at it. Washing your car is the best way to remove dirt and debris from the surface of your vehicle. You should wash your car about once per week to ensure that nothing that will hurt the car paint will sit on the car too long. It is also especially important to remove any bird droppings that are on the car, as they can etch the paint when left out in the sun. Don’t forget to thoroughly dry your car after washing to prevent rust from forming. A layer of wax will provide a barrier between your paint and environmental contaminants, and this can help protect your car’s finish.
The ultra-violet rays of the sun can fade a car’s paint. Try to park in areas that offer protection from the sun, such as under shade trees, covered parking, or in a garage. Protecting car paint from ultra-violet rays can also be slightly aided by adding a coat of wax that has UV protection.
The important things to take from these tips is to keep your car clean, try not to leave it in the sun for extended periods, and to add a thin layer of wax for further protection.
